I loved your piece, Linda. Alberta is not what it once was. COVID taught me how incredibly selfish a large portion of the province is. Maybe it was always that way but COVID shone a spotlight on it. When adults willingly choose to not care for seniors, immuno-compromised, children, those more vulnerable through no fault of their own, that is 100% selfish. The provincial government plays a huge part in this attitude of me, me, me. Albertan’s who have not opened their eyes yet are going to learn PDQ (pretty damn quick) that it is getting even worse than me, me, me …. it is now industry, industry, industry over human beings at whatever cost.

Kay, I agree 100%, which is the reason I am doing this. We can not lose our humanity. Thank you, I appreciate your comments!!

If we only looked out for me and mine we would exist in isolation.

If we didn’t build as a community we’d still be digging wells using outhouses and travelling dirt trails. Yes these paved roads were not part of the original structure.

Without community we’d have and be feral.

It’s a privilege to be part of a community, it’s a privilege to help lift others up because when that happens you rise too.

The most hollow thing I’ve read is To quote Bush 2 - “here I am amongst the haves and have mores.”

Well I’m here because of my community. My kids were educated because of my community, my life is enhanced because of my community.

This is the gift given, community. To earn your place is the honour!
